Private: Espresso Manual: 6.4 Zone Administrative Actions

Build Zone Files will zip and download zone file in BIND9 format.
The zone administrator can then review the zone files and upload to the DNS servers.

Update pricing Since there may be multiple registrars and multiple zones sharing the same database, it is possible to update the pricing for several registrars and zones at the same time. This saves hours of manual data entry when a TLD operator decides to change their pricing.

MIN value is set to help prevent abuse by domain tasting. Domain tasting is when a registrar registers a domain, monitors it for traffic (and pay per click revenue), and then deletes it during the grace period if the revenue is less than the annual fee. The MIN value can take the following settings:

  • set to 0 allows a 100% of refund
  • set value same as the 1 year subscription: no refund
  • set value relative to days of the year and yearly subscription;

The "minimum transaction fee" is calculated by dividing the fee for one year by 365, then multiplied by number of days allowed for a partial refund.

By example, if a domain costs $100/year, 100/365 = .273 per day.

And if the TLD administrator chooses to give a partial refund only in first 14 days, 14*.273 = MIN = 3.8, if the registrant deletes at any point in first 14 days they are charged $3.80. If they delete after 14 days they are charged the full year.

Run Automation: Zone Suspend and Delete Automation. Runs a script that suspends and deletes domains as per the settings given at
Zones>Edit Details>Automation Settings.

Lists out affected domains, and gives a confirmation message.
